Youth & Family Services, Inc. to Receive Grant of $10,000 from Young Leaders

Youth & Family Services, Inc. has been chosen by Leadership Oklahoma City’s young leaders program, Youth Leadership Exchange, to receive annual grant of at least $10,000. The grant will provide new, properly fitting clothing for all youth staying in emergency shelter.

Students in the class analyzed the potential needs of citizens of central Oklahoma and deemed the social, emotional, and physical well-being of youth in central Oklahoma as the most critical need.  The students then researched the nonprofit groups specializing in youth services and invited them to apply for the grant.  The youth leaders then selected Youth & Family Services, Inc. as their charitable cause and will enlist the help of local business people to raise funds.

This year’s Youth Leadership Exchange class is comprised of 45 students from thirty metro area schools, including students from both the Mustang and Yukon communities. “It’s powerful to see youth helping their peers. This is a chance for youth to help someone else and at the same time help themselves,” says YFS Executive Director Dee Blose.

Youth & Family Services, Inc. (YFS) is a 501(c)3 charity that has been meeting critical community needs for children since 1974. They currently provide over 10 programs to serve youth in Canadian, Blaine, Kingfisher, and Oklahoma Counties. As the largest social services nonprofit in their community, more than 2,600 individuals receive help from YFS annually.
